Pengaruh Peregangan Perut Terhadap Penurunan Intensitas Nyeri Haid Primer (Dismenore) Pada Mahasiswi Kebidanan Bunga Kalimantan 2023
Abstract
The Effect of Abdominal Stretching on Reducing the Intensity of Primary Menstrual Pain (Dysmenorrhea) in Midwifery Student Bunga Kalimantan 2023
Background: Primary menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) is caused by the production of prostaglandins that stimulate contraction of the smooth muscle of the uterine wall, causing pain. Many college students experience dysmenorrhea, which affects their daily activities. Therefore, alternative nonpharmacological therapies, such as abdominal stretching, are needed to reduce pain.
Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of applying abdominal stretching in reducing the intensity of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) in female college students who experience primary dysmenorrhea.
Methods: The study used a pre-experimental design with a total sampling approach on 30 female students who experienced primary dysmenorrhea. Measurement of pain intensity was carried out before and after treatment using the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) scale.
Results: Before treatment, the distribution of pain intensity was 4 people (13.3%) with severe pain, 25 people (83.4%) with moderate pain, and 1 person (3.3%) with mild pain. After the abdominal stretching treatment, there was a decrease in pain intensity with 26 people (86.7%) reporting mild pain and 4 people (13.3%) reporting moderate pain. Most respondents experienced a decrease from moderate to mild pain as many as 26 people (86.7%).
Conclusion: Abdominal stretching is effective in reducing the intensity of menstrual pain in female students who experience primary dysmenorrhea, with significant results seen in the decrease from moderate to mild pain.
