SHALLOTS COMPRESS EFFECTIVELY REDUCE JOINT PAIN IN PATIENTS WITH GOUT ARTHRITIS IN JONGGOL VILLAGE, JAMBON PONOROGO

Abstract


BACKGROUND Shallots have flavonoid-active compounds that are anti-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory and the active compounds of kaemferol have pharmacological effects as analgesic (pain relievers). Joint pain in people with gouty arthritis occurs due to the deposition of monosodiumurate crystals accumulated in the joint due to high levels of gouty arthritis in the blood. High uric acid levels and no treatment will result in chronic gout arthritis so that paralysis occurs because the urine feels stiff and cannot be bent anymore.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of shallot compresses against reducing joint pain in people with gout (gout arthritis) in Jonggol Village, Jambon Ponorogo.

METHODS The study was conducted may 26 to June 12. Pre-experimental research design one group pre-post test. The number of samples was 39 with purposive sampling techniques and instruments used numerical rating scales and data collection with the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test Statistical Test.

RESULTS The results showed the average pain before 4,82 and the average pain after the onion compresses was 3,46 with a p value (asymp. Sig 2-tailed) of 0.000 (<0.05) which means that onion compresses are effective for lowering joint pain due to gout.

CONCLUSION His study are expected to be used as an alternative for respondents in carrying out joint pain treatment.
